“If I could only do 1 exercise for ______ , what should I do?"

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been asked variations of this question over my 17+ years as a coach. 

Early in my career – I’m ashamed to admit – I may have gotten frustrated, or even taken offense.

If I was in a particularly sour mood, I might have even scolded the questioner like a child who just threw your cell phone in the toilet. 

"You know, you don't only have to do 1 exercise. Make the time! No point in dealing in hypotheticals." is like something I might've said. 

But over the past few years after answering hundreds and perhaps thousands of questions about pain, injuries and mobility, I began to notice I'd recommend certain exercises over and over.

So I began experimenting to try to identify any true game-changers

What I’ve discovered is that YES, clear-cut “best” exercises do exist!

If one exercise can give you amazing results, why do more?

That’s why I cringe at the thought of being so arrogant in dismissing and even admonishing those who asked me if there was one "best" exercise to do for their particular problem.

Because of course there is!

I just hadn't discovered them. Yet.

Now let's be real - there isn’t one magical exercise that will cure EVERY area of your body.

And even if an exercise works miraculously to decrease pain, more needs to be done to prevent the same pain or others from coming back.

What equipment do I need?

All you need is a foam roller or even a rolled up towel to place your leg on for technique #1. So once you learn these techniques you can do them any time and any place you need relief, whether that's lying in your bed or halfway hiking up Mt. Kilimanjaro.
